Appalachian Forest Discovery Sites
Apply today for consideration to become part of the 2025 Discovery Site Cohort
A limited number of sites will be onboarded each year.
Launching in 2025, the Appalachian Forest Discovery Sites Program will recognize and support important tourism sites across our region which share and exemplify the heritage, nature, and culture of the Appalachian Forest. This special category of the Appalachian Forest Partnerships Program supports and markets the top sites that make up AFNHA as a tourism destination. It will feature eligible tourism destinations who are significant, authentic attractions, with interpretation related to an AFNHA theme, and providing staffed visitor access. In the future, we will also include designations of other types of sites, such as information visitor centers, sites that are only open for limited hours, non-staffed experiences, and events.
