The remoteness of Webster County has kept it preserved in scenic beauty and clear flowing streams. The county had vast resources of timber and 19 seams of coal. Today, outdoor recreation is a heavy part of the economy.

Holly River State Park and Wildlife Refuge is WV’s second largest park. Located in Cowen is Camp Ceasar, also known as Webster County 4-H Camp.
